Notes & reviews

  • It had gotten dark and started to rain hard in the top of 4th. When the half-inning was over Pirates Bill McKechnie was ejected by HP umpire Moran for arguing the game should be stopped. After Meadows struck out the rain got harder and the game was stopped. Cardinals manager Hendricks argued that the game should continue (the Cardinals had a big lead and only one more inning was required before the game became official). After a 30 minute rain delay the game was about to resume when HP umpire Moran ejected Hendricks for his earlier remarks.
