Into lower RF stands at the foul pole. Tigers vehemently claimed it was foul; fans threw trash onto the field and booed for the duration of the game. Even NY reporters thought it was foul but 1B Ump Paparella called it fair.
A fan threw a piece of wood toward Maris as others threw more trash on the field causing a 10-minute delay.
