hard hit grounder that the wet infield slowed down
Epstein wanted to throw to second but Menke was too close so he turned and threw to first but Green dropped his soft throw
Bench's throw to Morgan at first pulled him off the bag; Campaneris ran past second and Morgan's throw to Tolan at 2nd was off-target
Perez fell after rounding third but there was no throw from the cut-off man because Hendrick was slow to the ball on wet field
With a 3-2 count on Bench, Athletics manager Williams signaled to intentionally walk Bench; catcher Tenace held out his hand for the intentional ball as Fingers came set, but as planned, Fingers threw a slider for strike three
