Third-baseman Robinson made a backhanded stab of hard-hit ground ball along third-base line, then, with his momentum carrying him into foul territory, whirled and made a one-hop throw to first-baseman to retire the batter
Ball was tapped in front of plate and umpire moved onto field to get better view; catcher grabbed ball with bare hand and tagged runner with empty glove as runner was blocked by umpire and slid behind him; umpire had back to play and called runner out
