Notes & reviews

  • It rained most of the game making the field a mass of tricky sticky mud; outfield was filled with puddles; burned oil had removed most of the surface moisture from the infield.
  • Interference removed the 64 force out that had happened; a catcher error on this play isn't in the rules until 1951; batter RBI on the play, since the run would have scored if the force out had stood.
  • Judge: head-long dive into 1B after catching wide throw
  • Rain began
  • Harris tagged McInnis
  • Cuyler: great catch
  • Drizzle and low-hanging clouds made it virtually impossible to see the ball.
  • Rice: shoestring catch
  • Traynor: leaping stop
  • Raining steadily
  • McInnis: scooped bad throw
  • Raining harder now
  • Over LF fence
  • Traynor: diving stop
  • Raining harder
  • Rice protested furiously
