Joe Niekro ejected by 1B umpire Dave Phillips for scuffing baseballs; after the 1-1 pitch, HP umpire Tim Tschida picked up the ball when it popped out of catcher Sal Butera's glove; Tschida had already saved a few balls as proof of scuffing; after examing this one, Tschida walked to the mound and Niekro tried to walk away with his hands in his pockets; he was ordered to empty his pockets and an emery board and some sandpaper fell onto the ground; Niekro claimed they were to manicure his finger nails; Niekro was suspended for 10 days
