- Rice collided with Owen but hung on. While Rice was lying on the ground in foul territory with Owen, a fan reached over and grabbed his cap. Owen was badly shaken and the trainer came out to attend to him for several minutes before escorting him to the dugout. Before play resumed, Rice vaulted the railing and went 10 rows up into the stands to confront the fan with his cap. After another several minutes' delay Rice eventually got his cap back with the aid of security guards.
