Notes & reviews

Reds Red Dooin, coaching at 1st base, ejected by HP umpire Byron for complaining about calls in the previous inning
Bescher was declared out after Cardinals manager Miller Huggins, coaching at 3rd, congratulated him for safely reaching 3rd by patting him on the back. Reds pointed this out to umpire Byron who then called out Bescher due to coach's interference (via a strict interpretation of the rule stating a coach cannot physically assist a baserunner). Huggins was incensed at the call and ran to home plate and took a swing at Lord Byron.
