Notes & reviews

  • Pirates attempted double-steal. Kiner retreated back to first when Garagiola threw to 2nd but Castiglione took off for home. Marion's throw back to Garagiola was waiting for him so Castiglione retreated back to third and got in a rundown during which Kazak made a high throw to home allowing Castiglione to score and Kiner to take off for 2nd again. Schoendienst misplayed Brecheen's throw trying to nail Kiner at 2nd and the the ball caromed into center field allowing Kiner to score all the way from 1st base.
