  • as Eddie Stanky walked away, he ran into HP umpire George Magerkurth's outstretched arm which was signaling the called third strike; as they stood entangled, Magerkurth insisted that Stanky retrace his steps and walk in front or behind him; Stanky was just as stubborn and there was a bit of shovingbefore they untabgled themselves; Dodgers manager Leo Durocher yelled at Magerkurth from the bench and was ejected; Durocher ran to HP and crowded the umpire, who pushed Durocher away; Durocher ran at Magerkurth but the other umpires got between the two; Stanky and Durocher ejected by Magerkurth
