Notes & reviews
- Norris tried to score from 2B when Gomez beat out an infield single to pitcher
- After catching Klein liner 1B Leslie threw ball to 3B hoping to double-up Chiozza who dived safely back to 3B; in making the dive Chiozza got dirt in his eye and with permission from NY manager Terry Sperry was allowed to be a courtesy runner for Chiozza (Chiozza returned after one batter)
- Phillies let bunt roll, hoping it would go foul, in the meantime, Whitehead went first to third
