Notes & reviews

  • Elbert 'Cool' Turner was identified as Bert Wagner in newspaper coverage of the 1927 World Series
  • Jackson's throw easily beat the runner and Brown blocked the plate, forcing Smith to run far outside the baseline, even running into SS Russ backing up the play. The Chicago players contended that Smith should be called out. The argument got so heated that fifteen local police came onto the field to try to restore order.
