Matt Garza throws the first no-hitter in Rays history; he allowed one baserunner on a walk
Tigers Manager Jim Leyland went to 2B to argue with umpire Marty Foster concerning the safe call on the steal; Leyland had been chewing on sunflower seeds and some came out of his mouth and hit Foster's shirt; Foster immediately ejected Leyland for spitting on him; Leyland exploded at the accusation and crew chief Gary Cederstrom had to intervene; Leyland was still mad about the accusation after the game; the Tigers had issues with this umpire crew earlier in the season
