CIN argued strenuously with Ump Sweeney; pop bottles were thrown out of the stands toward Sweeney. A squad of police appeared on the field at the RF bleachers where the tossers were parked and the throwing ceased. Pinelli was so mad he uprooted the bag and had thoughts of throwing it in the ump's direction (but didn't).

Liner blocked by Nehf, who was dazed by the force of the blow; he sank to ground after throw; time was called. NYT reported he was hit in the stomach.
