Notes & reviews

  • Unassisted triple play by Burns. It was the 3rd time in 3 weeks Cleveland lined into a triple play, all started by a first baseman. The 4th unassisted TP in Major League history (thru 9/14/1923); The liner was headed to RF, but Burns cut across and caught the ball 15' away from 1B as Lutzke shot past him on his way to 2B. Burns sprang after (and tagged) Lutzke, then beat Stephenson in a sprint to 2B.
