Notes & reviews
- Phillies thought Hebner had hit a game-ending home and he trotted around the bases; 1B umpire Stello ruled that the ball had hit the top of the fence, caromed back onto field and was in play; Pirates relayed ball to HP and it arrived just as Schmidt collided with catcher Ott and touched the plate; Phillies charged Stello claiming that the hit was a home run and Pirates stormed HP umpire Sudol claiming that Schmidt did not touch the plate; Pirates Taveras ejected by Sudol; also Hutton of Phillies, not in game, ejected by 1B umpire Stello for arguing Hebner's ball was home run
