Notes & reviews
- Phillies manager Smith ejected by 3B umpire Gore for arguing Baker was out at 1st on double play; pitcher Roberts intentionally dropped the bunted popup; Baker, runner on first, remained there when Roberts threw to 1bman who tagged Baker then the base, claiming double play; 1B umpire Dixon called both runners out; Cubs manager Hack and coach Blades argued the decision; Dixon reversed his ruling, declaring Baker safe and Baumholtz out on the catch, citing rule against intentionally dropping popups to set up a double play
