Browns Garver, not in game, ejected by 3B umpire Paparella for yelling that fan interference should not have been called because 3bman was very far from stands whe fan touched ball; Garver was scheduled to start game 2, but this ejection banned him for the rest of the day
Browns owner Bill Veeck called press box from St. Louis, telling traveling secretary to tell manager Hornsby to protest game; he tried to do so, but a pitch had been thrown after the interference so a protest could not be lodged
