Escaping a rundown Smith returned safely to 2nd where Whitehead was standing. Both players were tagged and Whitehead declared out.
On a play that was ruled a foul ball, 2Bman Whitehead was injured when Stu Martin crashed into him on an ostensible force play at 2nd.
