Pipp's first appearance since being hit by a ball in practice on July 2nd.
During the game Ty Cobb paid a short visit to 1B coaching box where he tried to rattle Gehrig, accusing him by panto- mime of trying to walk all over his players' feet at 1B. When Gehrig ignored him Cobb turned around and tried to tell the spectactors back of 1B about it; he took a good-natured joshing with a smile.
