Fastball hit him in the back and knocked him down. He lay writhing as if in great pain; eventually walked to 1B. NYT: The pill hit him in the kidneys and Sam went flat, twisting so furiously that he seemed to be in a convulsion. Two players held his legs and two others his head while Tr ainer Woods shouted words of encouragement.
