Notes & reviews
- CDT=26000
- Sharp grounder got by Adams. Grantham got ball in short LCF and threw to Adams to get Groh.
- Hit close to the LCF bleachers
- Heathcote ejected by 1B umpire Moran for arguing he was safe at 2nd; he rushed at Moran, seized him by the shoulder, and whirled him around to protest the decision; Heathcote was suspended for the remainder of the season
- Heathcote went to RF when the Cubs took the field and again protested when Moran ordered him to the clubhouse. Bottles were thrown at the umpire as he stood on the 1B line, so he shifted his position to the middle of the diamond.
- No fielding credit awarded for RINT $Grimes out for Miller's interference; no double play
- NYT: When Ump Moran called Adams out at 2B, the crowd lost its control and put on a demonstration that prevented the Giants from taking their turn at bat for 10 minutes. After the field had been cleared of bottles by a force of park employees the game was resumed
- Guessing LDP here
- CDT: In the 9th, Giant OFers didn't dare play back in their customary positions, and luckily they didn't have to pursue a batted ball while the shower was going on. With the game over, police rushed on the field to escort Moran to the safety of the clubhouse, and for an hour the erring ump and his crew remained in their locked dressing room. Finally, about 100 police, some mounted, cleared a path to a waiting taxi and the arbiters were hurried away with 6 bluecoats hanging on the car. Mgr McGraw was the target for a flock of catcalls and boos, and was also taxied out with 7 cops riding with him. Commissioner Landis, who attended the game with NL President Heydler, didn't escape the choice remarks of the fans. Landis merely shook his cane at the mob and passed on.
