Jacobson held at third base.
Game called in middle of 8th due to lightning and rain. Detroit batted in top of 8th inning and scored 4 runs. As the Browns were about to take their turn at bat a bolt of lightning struck the roof of the grandstand causing terror and confusion among the spectators and players. No one was injured although the lightning knocked two players to the ground. A heavy downpour followed the lightning and the contest was called. The rule in effect at this time was that the players' individual stats for the top of the 8th count in their official totals, but that the final score reverts back to the end of the 7th (7-5). As player stats are the official stats and team stats are not, Retrosheet has decided to treat this game as having a final score of 11-5 (since the player stats reflect Detroit scoring 11 runs in the game).
