Notes & reviews
- Start of game delayed 20 minutes due to large late-arriving crowd; overflow crowd encircled outfield behind ropes
- attempted double-steal, Mann scored while Hornsby was tagged out in a rundown
- Cubs manager Johnny Evers argued that McHenry should only be credited with a double per the ground rules in force due to the overflow crowd encircling the outfield (umpires ruled a ball into bleachers was a home run)
- Hornsby and Fournier scored on Lavan's single, and, when pitcher York cut off the throw from RF and pegged to 2B to prevent Lavan from advancing, McHenry also scored when he beat SS Hollocher's throw home
